Buddy Guy's Night Out, part 1
Comment:
This 2-disc mix was prompted by "Buddy Guy's Night Out," a variation on the American theme of "guys night out." This particular night saw blues legend Buddy Guy coming to town and, of course, we had to tailgate with ribs, beer, cigars and blues before the show. I took the Blues Brothers as a jumping-off point and followed the trail back to some of the great Chicago bluesmen and their influences, as well as some of the later rock bands who copped a feel. Enjoy. As Elwood says, "By the year 2006, the music known today as the blues will be found only in the classical records department of your local public library." So tonight, ladies and gentlemen, while you still can, get a taste of the blues.Feedback:
Classic stuff. But no Buddy? (although he does play on the Jr. Wells) Come on down to Chicago & we'll show you some living blues! Is that the Pigpen version of Big Boss Man?
Not bad.
that's right, cut loose w/ the blues!
Both these mixes have a real good-times feeling.

Buddy makes an appearance on disc 2. I had to work my way up to him. And, yes, this recording (2-13-70 and 2-14-70 at the Fillmore West in San Fran) features Pigpen.
