Comment:

Mix #43, the resignation. One of a few inspirations for this one was Douglas Adams' Restaurant at the End of the Universe, though once again the result is not very comical. The other inspirations are personal. This is kind of a sequel to mix #38, "Time Travel is Fictional". The final tracks of both mixes even share a melody. What both mixes come down to is this: time travel is my metaphor for fantasizing about relationships that could be but aren't (38) and relationships that can never be (43). Tracks 2-12 are pretty much recognizing impossibility with varying reactions of calm sadness, angry sadness, plain anger, frustration, and half-assed attempts at being happy for them. 13-17 is attempting to heal while dealing with external annoyances. 18 is the painful realization sinking in once more, undiluted. 19-20: acceptance. "Once I believed we could approach this. Now I have faith placed in the things you call fate." (edit: decided to remove the Travis Morrison song - wasn't fitting.)

I really enjoy the Wrens song you included - Meadowlands is just ripe with songs of bitterness with relationships - I guess that's why I'm listening to it much more these days! Nice mixing!

I am completely fascinated by this trilogy. I like the way your mind works.
