Comment:

A collection of mostly instrumental songs (the only vocals are unintelligible yells, chants and hymns), where the flavor is distinctly tribal, archaic and dark. As you can see, it's composed almost entirely of songs from this decade. It also follows a narrative, transporting the listener back to the Earth's prehistoric beginnings, up through the ages to the birth of man and just beyond.

We begin with the formation of life itself; tension builds in living growls and animalistic squeaks of unidentifiable noise - the Black Dice release chatters, thumps and a corroboree of sounds that are, somehow, both organic and inorganic at the same time. Then the first sun rises with the Boredoms; life thrives, drums pound, acoustics rise. and One Last Glare of sunlight fades - driven by bongos and wild croaks. Another burst of tribal percussion occurs ala Amir Baghiri, utterly relentless and hypnotizing; then the Earth darkens in the shadow of the great comet. In Dark Trees is the gloom before impact. As the comet nears, panic ensues, and the Animal Collective chant and thrash in manic stop-start bursts. Ghost further this death-rattle with Leave The World! - a 22-second blast of unstoppable percussion. The comic hits. An Ancient Delay of darkness and dust begins, and Wolf Eyes unravel a coil of bass-heavy pulsations and atmospheric rifts. The planet is crumbling. So begins the Ice Age, a 9-minute centerpiece of unyielding rock rustled up by Comets On Fire. Razor-edged guitars carve up the glaciers, and something human shouts across it all as Man emerges from the caves. Siouxsie & The Banshees recreate those Sunless days of icy darkness with their own thunderous and simply glorious primal drumbeat. Mammoths mark the age of the Mammal, and Pelican's grinding metallic crunch is a symbol to their rise. Humans, however, start to take control, and the Egowar begins. Men build weapons and turn on their own kind; pan-flutes, ancient soundscapes and gorgeous hymns symbolize this grave struggle. But the strong take charge, a Son Of Stone in Darwinian law, and Men thrive. Cul De Sac unleash a final tribal rhythm. Marsh and jungle emerge from the ice, and soon the Earth returns to a balanced climate. Finally, we close on the sound of what separates man from beast: Art . first captured in ancient Rock Carvings, and imitated here in a sample from the Sounds of Prehistoric Scandinavia.

Mmmm, tribal beats...very nice. I'll bet something from Roach's Trance Spirits would fit in nicely herein.
