Now the War's On
Comment:
Some thoughts: 1. This track is in the same vein as the Bragg and Wilco Mermaid Ave. sessions - Lyrics by Woody, given with the blessing of his heirs to the Dropkicks to write music for and record. 8. Locksley is an unknown bar band toiling in obscurity, playing early Beatles and Kinks type stuff. 14. Nancy Sintra's Dylan cover isn't bad - it certainly isn't the cringe-fest I feared it would be. 15. I've never been a Bad Religion fan, but this track is co-written by Johnette Napolitano of Concrete Blonde - she's great - and features guest vocals by Tim Armstrong of Rancid - he is, no joke, like a god to me. 22. Origin of mix title. In all, just a quick mix I threw together for listening in the car.Feedback:
A wonderfully eclectic mix.
Have you heard the Baez cover of It Ain't Me, Babe? It's typical Baez-on-Dylan: beautiful and haunting.
Color me interested in Locksley...
Thank you les_autres!
Dropkick Murphys,Violent Femmes, and Ella Fitzgerald all in the same place!? i love it.
