Comment:

Although less than 1/2 of the original tracks from the initial compilation are represented here, the overall feel remains the same. This incarnation includes all-time favourites, mashups, remixes and rare grooves for all to enjoy remastered onto CD format.
John Denver and Jim Henson were good friends in real life and teamed up on several occasions (Muppet Show episode, John Denver and the Muppets Christmas Special, and Rocky Mtn. Holiday) to produce some good old fashioned family entertainment. This CD kicks off with "We Wish You A Merry Xmas". You can't move anywhere --down the radio dial or shopping mall-- without stumbling onto some rendition of "Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire)" which was co-written by Mel Torme back in 1946. Mark Vidler/GHP released this Boston/Beatles/Greg Lake mashup in 2004 under the monicker TOO MANY JDs and affectionately refers to "Christmas In Boston" as a festive f#%k up. CheekyBoy grants us "Biggie's Last Christmas" by mashing Diddy with George Michael. DJ John uses rapid-fire TV-special samples in "Christmas Massacre of Charlie Brown" atop of "Rhymin' And Stealin" by The Beastie Boys which scratches the drum break intro of Led Zeppelin's "When The Levee Breaks". Appearing in their original form we have holiday staples from Burl Ives, Gene Autry, Bobby Helms, Brenda Lee and Thurl Ravenscroft.Ravenscroft, voice of Tony the Tiger, was also the singer of the song "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" in the 1957 Christmas television special based on the Dr. Seuss classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas! His name was accidentally left off of the credits, leading many to believe, erroneously, that the cartoon's narrator, Boris Karloff, sang the song. Whoa! You r quite the controversy Karen...I just been searchin' thru yr mixes. I confess to knowing zilch 'bout hip hop but I respectfully doff my cap to yr mix making and to your eloquence in responding to unkind criticism. Anyway, I like the look of this mix and the cover is just fab!
