Comment:

A collection of Happy Songs with a Hook..
Thanks to the ever reliable Barry for 6 & 12..
Tracks 16 & 23 aren't cover versions. 28 is, and while it's nice enough, the reason it's included here is because I like the way she says 'Donald Duck'!
Download and

Enjoy

Donald duck you say? I gotta hear that. This is scorching mate. I know a lot of it, but I need to bask in the whole thing to get the full benefit. Anytime by the way.

Happy talk, keep talkin' happy talk,
Talk about things you'd like to do.
You got to have a dream,
If you don't have a dream,
How you gonna have a dream come true?

...& I'm happy the cable connection is working..!

I'm hooked! a great listen, Sam: Baron De Tagomago, Orwell, The Tikis, Moto Boy, Alphabeat, Sparks, Aphrodite's Child... wonderful. I'm hooked! Especially liked the Jonathan Richman song, since I once lived in Salt Lake City, and I've also had to defend my preference for taking the bus on long trips. It's fun! wonderful mix, and that's a lovely picture too.

Can't beat happy and hooky. And sun by the Seine.

Is there by any chance a greater than usual number of food references, in both the artist and song columns?

Late to the party as ever. Is that Manchester in autumn? Familiar with most of the artists, not so all the songs, though well acquainted with Wan Light and wonderful it is. Should that be Wimple Winch? Or is there a band called Wimple Witch? Or am I muddled?

The whole thing looks great but I especially like the 9-14 stretch, that said Billy Nicholls merits best tune fer moi.

I agree with Mr. Anthony. Sammy's got it...hands down!
The Fiery Furnaces were in town a little more than a week ago but I missed them due to a high fever and bad cough. This mix is just what I need!

Vampire Weekend sound is summer in my opinion! So much to like here. Another amazing mix, Sam. Really dig that Fiery Furnaces track. I also really liked the opener.

Well we both know how much I hate "happy songs with a hook" -- but I guess I'd listen to this mix if you put a loaded gun to my head. I'd cringe as the upbeat sounds of the Beach Boys, Archies and Billy Nicholls pass through my eardrums. Just shoot me already! Okay, you know I'm just messin' with ya, as this looks brilliant. Might even be worth the 7 hour download. BTW, I've really been enjoying what I've heard from Vampire Weekend, who I first heard on our alt dj mix last year. Their album has been out for two days, and the backlash has already begun!

Gee, Ion, there are some classics on "The Sun is an Old Friend." Such as:
Hey Sammy! Thought I'd share the e-mail my mom sent me after I sent her the link to DL the mix: "The Man with the Black Mustache,
You're Crazy for Taking the Bus,
Vegetables,
Captain Sandwich,
Painty Paint Box

How on earth did you find such goodies!??!"
Sounds like you have another fan! Will check this out this weekend.

Okay. I screwed up that last comment a bit. It should have gone like this: Hey Sammy! Thought I'd share the e-mail my mom sent me after I sent her the link to DL the mix: "Gee, Ion, there are some classics on 'The Sun is an Old Friend.' Such as: The Man with the Black Mustache, You're Crazy for Taking the Bus, Vegetables, Captain Sandwich, Painty Paint Box. How on earth did you find such goodies!??!" Sounds like you have another fan! Will check this out this weekend when she gives me the disc.
