Comment:

Last week we had a minor flooding accident. A bath was run and then ignored for over an hour. I was out at the time, I accept no responsibility. Before it was too late it overflowed and water began pooring through the ceiling, directly underneath is `My' room. 2 PCs, a stereo and a dart board inhabit in there. Oh, and did I mention about 300 books, 1,000 vinyls and approx 6,000 CDs? Yes, I know.
As I stated at the start though, it was a minor accident. I only lost about 15 Box Sets, they used to proudly sit on my CD racks, not so proud any more. A few people mentioned that surely the CDs will still play. I imagine they will, but hopefully I'm not alone with my opinion that Box Sets aren't bought solely for the music...
Anyway, the reason I'm saying all this is that room will be out of bounds for a couple of weeks while the damp drys and before we can re-decorate. As such I have no access to my music. My laptop holds 2,557 songs. Exactly every mix I've posted sits on it's Hard Disc and nothing else. But, I needed a new mix to post on AotM to promote my new blog, so here I present `Morning Sunshine' a lovely little mix that incorporates my favourite tracks from recent Sammy mixes, along with a big chunk of tracks featured on my alt-mix with `avacado rabbit'.
AotMs struggles continue, and it's hit me as hard as every one else I'm sure. It's the best site in the world, I've recently had a little dalliance with another mix site, but it's just not the same. But it's time for me take a summer break from posting and concentrate on sammy's tunes, I'll still be visiting every day, no doubt, to post comments, as that of course is the essence of this site. One which the afformentioned site seems to neglect.
Ciao for now, and don't foget my new blog! All fully linked up. As is my back-catalogue on this site, for any new comers.....

Besides the BMaC about the site, the mix looks, feels and sounds like a Sammy mix, as to be expected.

Fuck Sam!
That is horrible. Every single CD, Vinyl, Cassette that I own up to and including purchases made today are all in boxes in the attic (ignoring but not forgetting the few hundred that are still staying with a mate in Norwich) I am still naive enough to believe a hard drive is all I need.

Sorry mate, top mix. I'll just go look at this blog I'm intrigued hopefully you have more staying power than me, I'm on my 10th defunct blog already.

Oh, God, you poor thing! I know how horrid floods can be (our cellar was flooded last year due to the pipes freezing and breaking, and we had just redecorated!). Still, it could've been worse, am glad you "only" lost those 15 sets... I know very little on the mix but I'm sure it's as good as all your other mixes. (After all, it's can't not be good when there's Cat AND Sigur R=s.)

shame about the flood, & especially those boxsets - what a crying shame, sammy. this mix looks like an adequate way to kickstart the healing process - that nick drake is one of my very favorites, & i love the ruby suns too. will bookmark your blog & check it daily!

Interesting how it only takes an hour to really mess things up and weeks to fix it afterwards. Looks like a fab mix from you as usual and look forward to checking out your new blog on a regular basis!

That's an awful story (about the flood, not the blog, which I will dutifully investigate), but this is a fine compilation. May you be back in full-strength mode soon.

A flood. What a horror story. But I listened to the this mix the other day and it is truly wonderful and the blog is fantastic. The album cover sidebar is cool and it looks like you keep adding new widgets. I need to get tweaking my new blog now too.

After a small fall my first laptop seemed to be suffering from PTSD, shutting itself down every 10 minutes - then one day the screen truned to gobbledygook, went black, and that was that... I'd gone completely digital for storage reasons and thought I'd lost my entire music collection. Praise be, I was able to transfer the files to another comp.

Still - look at the new laptop now and wonder - all that music on one piece of fragile plastic... maybe I should start amassing cds/vinyl again? No patience 'backing up to disc'.

Sorry about your accident - this mix looks a perfect way to cheer yourself up.

Ouch!!! Been thru similar back when I lived in New Orleans and the levees overflowed. Only had vinyl back then. Apart from some minor warping of the album covers, it only took about a week to recover.
Back up your data at least once a week. Burn your precious tunes to disk to avoid loss.
Good luck and happy mixing! All will soon be well.

When an event occurs such as this (mine is still referred to as The Great Unhappiness... I had to toss about a 4-6' high stack of vinyl... beyond repair), then one is best off sitting back, cranking out a new mix, and enjoying whatever chemical (naturally occurring or forced by human hand) and enjoy what there is...

Comisarations on the flood, congratulations on the mix.

Had a similar situation with a neglected sink recently, with less catastrophic results - but I can empathize. Like the Fruit Bats track, among other great picks here.

What, no Handel's Water Music? Really sorry about the flood, glad that there wasn't excessive damage. Another superb mix, one expects no less from you sir.

Wow.... Sorry I missed this (been out of town for a few weeks). Really nice looking mix, a pity about the flood. I've twice fallen victim to floods, so I feel your pain.

Inexplicably missed this one, Sam. Sorry to hear about the incident on Crofts Bank Road, but it sounds like it could have been a lot worse. Fortunately most music can eventually be replaced, but not childhood photos or other personal affects. Anyway, plenty of fantastic songs. I see that this is the second time that Sigur Ros had the last word. Great song.
