The radio in my town totally blew during the 80's. Hell, it still does but at least now there is the internet to expose you to alternatives.
I bought Huey Lewis & the News albums because of my ignorance, man! (Ok, only one, "Sports", but that's still a damning indictment).
I learned about a lot of these bands in college and have fond memories of the excitement when I realized that there was good music out there - it wasn't just a choice between crap like Phil Collins or nothing.
