This is a condensed version of my 2-disc "Condition: Terminal" set from last year; I made this for a co-worker who is also from Cleveland. I've taken a couple of liberties: for instance, Donnie Iris is from Pittsburgh, but his label was Cleveland-based, as was his management, and I believe he recorded his albums there, too. He's like an "Adopted son" of the city and his songs were huge hits there. Obviously, Ms. Hynde from The Pretenders is from Akron while the rest of her band was English. Trent from NIN is from PA, but was a big part of the Cleveland music scene since the mid-80s when he was in a Journey-type band called The Innocent.Feedback:
I am from Cleveland and I know that Filter, and the Dead Boys were from Cleveland. The drummer from Stabbing Westward was from Erie. Pixies and Devo were from Akron if that helps. Songs: Ohia and Brandston are from the Lorian area which is right outside of Cleveland. Of course you could always use Bone Thugs for a little hip hop if your co-worker is so inclined.
I thought Breathless, (great powerpop track there!), were from Florida..?
No, Breathless were definitely from Cleveland - Jonah Koslen was the main guy, and he was in MSB before that. I believe they recorded their albums in Florida, though.
