Comment:

Here's my annual year-end wrap up mix. Thirty-eight tracks which had me grooving through the year. I already had the opening and closing tracks in mind for both discs since October, and the rest just filled up while wasting away at work. I was contemplating on making this a three disc affair but I couldn't muster another quality mix, so sorry Essex Green, Acid Mothers Temple, Jucifer, Benni Hemm Hemm, Envelopes, Camera Obscura and Built to Spill. Anyway, hope everyone had a great 2006!
Enjoy both discs:
Disc I and Disc II

Excellent round-up of the best of 06. A few of these bands would make my line up, such as Beirut, Belle & Seb, A Hawk & A Hacksaw, J Dilla (RIP) & Miss Newsom. Great stuff Salman.

I'm not so good at keeping up w/ current music, but I do have the Beirut, Sonic Youth, Grizzly Bear, Joanna Newsom and Campbell/Lanegan discs and have enjoyed them very much. can't wait to listen to this musical extravaganza in it's entirety.

Holy Fuckin' Shit!!! This is the best year-end wrap up these eyes have seen (no offense to the other fine mixers out there). My word!!! Or, your word? Either way, this is awesome!

There is no way to keep up with everything but mixes like this helps point the way!

UNFAMILIAR with most of this but I'll take it on the say of the Gnome that this is the business of 2006.

Really excellent choices here, and a lot of stuff I wouldn't have thought of! Particularly on the first side. I love Funny Little Frog, so I'm glad to see it there, and of course the Joanna Newsom - nice to see Cat Power represented too.

These two mixes are spot on - great job. I also love Funny Little Frog, and a lot on here besides.

Whoa, dude...this is killer. Love both discs here. Of course, there's lots of stuff that coincides with my own favorites along with plenty of new shit to check out. Opening half of second disc is totally great, too.

Love this mix for 2006. You obviously have an ear for new releases. I'm still discovering artists/CDs released in 1968. Perhaps I'll get around to hearing these in 2024 ;)

This is pretty cool. We've definitely got some overlap (a lot of these that aren't on my year-end list were at least considered).

Always interested in your take Salman. This looks as wild and woolly as the year it covers.

Salman, as you have quite rightly identified, an above music quality year . . . . a crap year for me, but never mind . . . a very good mix and I particularly like the back end of the second side . . . . ya Salman !

My finger dropped off the pulse somewhat last year. Looking at this ace mix makes me regret it.

Wonderful. I'm with you on the OOIOO, Matmos, Comets on Fire and Sonic Youth especially. And the Essex Green and Camera Obscura also rans were particular favorites for me this year.
