Comment:
It all starts simply enough. Robbie whining about his wife. Richard pacing the floor. Ennui. John calls to say the Tiki Bar is open so we all pile into the mustang and head out.A few drinks and it's on to the Empire Hotel to meet Joni. Tom calls on the cell saying the gangs hanging out at Danny's. Finish our drinks and continue hopping. Rickie's half naked dancing, Tom's muttering at the bar, and Chuck E.'s in love but Eleni having nothing to do with him, she's hitting on me. Feeling bad for Chuck I allow Eleni to take me back to her apartment. Sneaking out of bed it's back to the bars. Things are starting to get out of hand. Jim's lamenting, Spider's spinning his tales, Jimmy's getting belligerent, and Nick's ready to shoot up the joint. And then the dead guys start showing up. Janis and Jim and Townes and Z, I've got to stop drinking tequila. Cops are imminent. Jim remembers a party so we gather in the parking lot. "So where's this party?". "Ireland".
"Great, who do we know with a jet" "PAUL" we all shout and the night is saved. Spent the rest of the night making up verses and acting them out. Elvis tried to warn us and Johnny sang us home.
Feedback:
this is really fantastic, it almost makes me want to start drinking - hilarious liner notes, i particularly love the 17-19 closing stretch, & of course the tom waits.
Wonderful!
and we started all over again the next day....Very nice Tom.
wonderful. fantastic. lovely.
Great narative mix, nice flow as well. Love the liner notes.
Ye coulda give me a bell Tom, then again Eleni woulda been hitting on me I guess, so can't say I blame you for the non-invitation. I raise a glass of St. Emilion to you and this mix.
This is awesome.
Intoxicating!
Really cool!!! (If Rob had internet access at my apartment right now, I'm sure he'd say the same thing, in a more articulate way.)
As always, marvelous....
cool, looks lika my sunday ;)
Beautiful conversation, I'm surprised only one Waits made it on there!
Fantastic mix and I love the notes, too.
Great opening trio... and lots to like throughout.
Wow, except for 1 and 10 all of this is in my collection. 5 - 9 is transcendent.
This looks fun and very, very good.
Quality through and through. That 12-19 run is perfect...
Yeah, this is quality. Nice effort.
a sublime nocturnal submission.
Oh, how about Laura Nyro's 'Sweet Blindness' - a wonderful ode to the delights of getting more than a little squiffed! I love Robbie Robertson's guitaring on Raised on Robbery! The boy can groove! The Janis track is a kicker. I love her! Cheers, hic...
Gotta love those Waits and Cave tracks. Great assortment here. (The solo artist Stew has a nice one called "Kingdom of Drink"...)
