Comment:

This is probably my wildest mix in terms of genre jumping. It developed from a personal challenge to create a diverse mix for a friend of mine who wanted to expand his musical palette. I tried to make it as ecclectic as possible but not too "out there", but I think I may have failed him.
The first and last track of this mix were taken from this trailer for the new Wes Anderson flick, The Darjeeling Limited. The first track is a personal favourite from one of my favourite filmmakers, Satyajit Ray (yes, he scored some of his own films!). You should see his Apu Trilogy if you already haven't... touching, minimalist cinema at its pure brilliance.
Here's the mix. I hope you like it. Oh, and, the title is from Dirt McGirt's verse in
"Reunited."

Not sure I'd use Joanna Newsom on a mix that's trying to be "not too out there"! But this mix looks like a trip and that is a good thing.

I especially love "The World of Apu," but you're right, it's an amazing trilogy. looking forward to the S. Ray track, and then Nusrat, Joanna, Kate, Portishead all in a row. looks inspired to me. and then look, there's #11. can't wait to hear this one!

My word, I know a huge chunk of this pre-listen, so I know I'm gonna dig the rest. Wuthering Heights on a Salman mix? Didn't see that one coming...:)

Small world. Just nabbed a used DVD of Pather Panchali in the hopes of expanding my knowledge of foreign cinema from this geography. Those movies are touted as being some of the finest of all time, so I figured I can't go wrong. Now, this mix is created to further enhance the experience! And, it looks simply beautiful. One of the most singular mixes I've listened to. I thank you for this. Truly! Your friend is quite fortunate.

Wow, this looks not only eclectic, but also quite amazing. That should do the job of expanding your friend's (and my own) musical palette alright!

A very cool listen. Dug the 3-4-5 run, the Funkst÷rung and the closer especially.

ok, obviously I did wait to hear this, but still... it's brilliant, as usual. my particular favorites were all in a row at 11-15. and I've decided to watch that trilogy again, so thanks for that. great work Salman, and I really like that stamp too.

ahh, seeing that stamp reminded me of those long-lost days of my youth where i tried to slowly fill in all of the gaps on the 'india' page of the album - i don't think i ever made it tho:(

thanks for the comments on my last mix. i've since added a dload link in case there was anything that was new to you (unlikely, i know ...)
