God but I love Rasputina. For Xmas 2003 my then boyfriend gave me their entire discography to date. And yes, their cover of WYWH rocks the world.

I saw Rasputina live at B. B. King's (the famous one, just down the block from me really) on Halloween 2004... seemed like the best cheesy-scary thing to do at the time. i loved their lineup: girl on cello, girl on cello, guy on drums! they did this song called "Barracuda" that got everyone bopping around, and then one of them said, "i wonder why that song always gets everyone so excited?" awesome. they also did a great cover, "Bad Moon Rising" i believe. i think i was trying to convince myself at the time to like goth music, due to something insidious along the lines of peer pressure. the attempt failed, but the memory of those two songs is going to stay golden with me.

I'm so glad you made this, Rasputina deserves some airtime. I once made a mix of the originals of songs they covered that must still be floating around, but they really choose some good stuff. Awesome!
