Comment:

Well, this will most likely be my last mixed genre of the year. I've been getting into a lot of Soul music from back in the day and this mix really illustrates my current obsession. Not much of a fan of Common, but my friend played me "Misunderstood" which samples Nina Simone's "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" and I thought it was incredible (as it was done in a way where it becomes a duet). Even my friends who don't like hip-hop think its fantastic.
Anyway, feel free to listen to this mix. I hope you enjoy(ed) it.

I like it, particularly the Wendy Rene, Stevie, Raekwon, Sultan, and Nina Simone Picks. The new Wu Tang Clan album is pretty great if you are into hip-hop; I thought I wasn't any more and its got me.

Man, this is fantastic. Must disagree re: common - my favourite rapper out there, awesome track. I could get cramp in my typing arm highlighting all the great tracks here, but I will say great opening 3, and I will check out Wooden Shjips.
My MotW also...

I Heard It Through The Grapevine is one of my fave singles of all time. Love the Beatles, Bowie, Scott-Heron, Ladybug T. too. Now who are these Wooden Shjips everyone is raving about and possibly misspelling?

Wendy Rene!!! Holy shit! Very cool. The fact that I like just about everything else here doesn't hurt, either, and that's a nice use of the Wooden Shjips opener as a closer.

[was hoping to get my comments onto this one before it slipped off the Hot 100, but didn't quite make it; topsyturvytown saw to that. grrr.] the Gil Scott-Heron, Nina Simone, Otis Redding and Stevie Wonder are already favorites of mine, but also loved Mark Sultan, Common and Yusef Lateef tracks. great stuff, and my work colleague keeps commenting favorably when we hear Country Teasers on your mixes.

How the hell did I miss this?!?! It's like a reflection of what I've been listening to, except a few I haven't heard - notably The Ladybug Transistor, which I now love very much.

I really, really like that Common track, in the same way I like Kanye West's "Diamonds from Sierra Leone".
