Waits, not me. Concieved as an mp3 playlist alternating the covers with the original Tom versions so the differences could be highlighted. It can also be a two disc set so that those of you who are not a fan of Tom's voice can listen to his songs in a more pleasant form. Special thanks to Abangaku for pointing toward the Robert Plant-Allison Krauss version of Trampled Rose. With apologies to Mark for the two Holly Cole covers which I like but he could do without. An interesting mix of well known and little known artists. Male representation to come in the future.Further evidence that Tom belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Vote for Tom.

Good idea. I'll try it with the mp3 play list alternation. My only suggestion would have been Natalie Merchant's version of "I Hope That I Don't Fall In Love With You."
natalie's version appeared on my last mix, Tom Waits-Take Three, so she didn't make the cut on this one.
I still think it is to Tom's credit to not be in the Jann Wenner Hall of Fame.Great concept, will there be a link? I would love to hear the Linda Thompson in particular.
I think I'd like this. I'll take a woman's voice over Tom's sandy growl anyday.
Wow, familiar with very few of these versions. I've been stalling on getting the Plant / Krauss disc but that cover is another great prompt. Nicely done. As per Holly, I actually like her voice but have never cared for her covers of Tom. To each, ya know.

swank, a search of yahoo music pulled 100 hits on long way home, no of which were norah jones. i will have to investigate further.thanks for the tip. as for the scarlett johanssen i have not seen it surface and while i will purchase any album that is all tom covers this one scares me a bit.
