Comment:

Just a mix I made to get away from the monotony of work. I took some tracks I've been digging the last few weeks as well as some choice favourites and sequenced them rather quickly (at work of course). I think it turned out alright. Title from the Rolling Stones song.

Nice. I, too, love that Merrilee Rush track (and I thought I was one of the only ones), along with the Stones (of course), Beach Boys, Holly, Stevie, Billy and VU picks.

I think it turned out alright too. really dug the Madlib to Beach Boys set, and the trio of ladies from Linda Laurie to Merrilee Rush. nice work, Salman.

There really is a place for our quickie mixes and this one works nicely. I'm on that Merrilee Rush bandwagon too. The Nancy Sinatra and Nico combo also works for me.

Juice Newton covered the Merrilee Rush track and had a huge hit with it in the 80's so I think you've probably heard of it.

I like the idea of a "quickie" mix...but never can make any. I have to figure the "ends" of the songs, how they segue into one another, what the crossfade/elapsed time ratio is...and other geeky stuff like that. But we just played a game of Monopoly last night, I know tracks 2, 6, 7 & 12...and thought I'd drop a comment.

Sorry things are so slow for you at work, but if a mix comes out it that's alright, too. Never been a "quickie" (wink! wink!) kind of guy either, but there's always a first time.

Nina Simone also did a nice cover of "Angel of the Morning," but it wasn't a huge hit in the '80s or at any other time. I also love the Juice Newton version, in fact - and the song's also been a tornadoZ karaoke show-stopper on occasion.

that's what we call working smarter not harder . . . I like that Snaathana, and yes, Merrilee Rush IS the Angel of the Morning but Nancy & Holly are angels too.

This is SO good, Salman. I was kinda hoping the opener would be a Roxy cover. Of course it wasn't, but a terrific ditty it was. I've actually got that album, I should listen to it, (too many CDs too little time!). And I can't believe no one has mentioned how good the Merilee Rush version of 'Angel' is - although I probably prefer the Shaggy version... Oh, and thanks for more Eux Autres , love 'em :)

This looks like a great way to break the Monopoly monotony.

Great way to put your time at work to good use! I'm in the middle of listening to this right now, and I'm liking it A LOT. I was going to post favourites, but it would very nearly amount to just typing up the tracklist all over again.

Merilee Rush's Angel is definitely better but in terms of overall coolness no one can hold a candle to Juice. Nancy's Bang Bang is one of my old favorites. Is the Holly Golightly a cover of the Pavement song? Clever sequencing if so.

I can heartily identify with that. My first AOTM offerings were done at work, though I don't have time anymore. You really captured the mood, Cabinessence and giving a more mundane, but equally cool, meaning to Paint It, Black.
