Comment:
First he took a month and a half off for Lent. Since his return he's been working on a bunch of beautiful tribute mixes. I miss the plate of greasy tacos and a bucket of beer mixes he used to churn out so effortlessly. So I made my own. With apologies to Derek...Feedback:
No apologies needed of course, love the Cracker, Gillian, J. Giels, Kris, Bob (one of my top 300 of his ;-) and Prine of course, just to name the first ones that popped in my eyes.
I always have been a legend in my own mind, so I don't know quite what to think about this, except to tell you it is perfect. Hoping there is a copy drifting my way whether by snail mail or carrier pigeon or whatever you young whipper-snappers are using these days.
PS: Are you finally ready for the Prine vs. Waits rematch?? Thanks, Tom.
Oh, and Brother Funky can attest to the fact that Gutbucket 7 is halfway there...

Burp, this hits the spot Tom.
After all these tributes, future Gutbucket Brothers mixes may have to give Derek top billing (I'm thinking "The Gutbucket Brothers... featuring Doowad!"). This looks great. Really like the Greg Brown, Led Zep, Emmylou, Dylan, Prine, and John Hartford, to name just a half dozen or so.
Jeez, all sorts of bang-up awesome mixes lately! I can't compete. But let me tell you... this would sit in a treasured spot on my rack of discs, Tom. It's sweet as sweet can be. And you've reminded me to go back and listen to Daniel Lanois.
Man this hits the spot Tom.
Lots of really lovely solid mixes on here at the moment, and this is no exception. I really like that Nick Lowe - Emmylou Harris stretch in the second half. Tasty.
great
Doowad - Man of the moment! This is a Brilliant mix - Illegal Smile, Black magic Woman, Me & Bobby McGee, I could go on. Great stuff..
yeah, derek's fingerprints are all over this one - spot on tribute here, terry, & just like a doowad mix, there's way too many highlights to even begin listing - terrific
There is no better gift to a friend than something like this--a spot-on personalized mix!
Great mix! I'd love to take the road trip with these in hand. Well done!
"Greasy"! Perfect picnic music, at least in my estimation.
Nice. Very, very nice. You have now officially made me want to hear "Romance in Durango" and "Rotten Peaches," among others.
Yep, great mix. Way, way, way too many choice picks to name.
I could rabbit on about how many of these songs I like; however, I will spare you the pain. I will, however, applaud the inclusion of the definitive verison of Me and Bobby McGee and Greg Brown. In the words of the enigmatic and staggeringly sexy Kate Bush: hmmm...yes...
Great tribute to a one of a kind mixer. Love most everything
Great to see Butch Hancock included. A wonderful songwriter.
