i made this one for a friend. he's already familiar with most of these bands or artists, but i tried to put stuff on there that he hadn't heard, from cd's he doesn't own yet. i was actually pretty happy with this one. my favorite part was on side B, the last 4 songs. The Mercury Rev song, if you haven't heard it, is just this really neat recording of a piano, it's made to sound very low-fi, it crackles...it sounds like it was made in 1912 or something. it makes for a good transition from yo la tengo's "everyday" to king biscuit time's "time to get up", two very ambient feeling songs. Aside from that, I usually don't put two songs on by the same artist, especially in a row. But the two Spiritualized songs i put on there just had to go consecutively, as they are on the album "pure phase". i guess i'll stop typing now.
