Comment:
This tape is a for a friend with fabulous taste, but who always says, "I don't really know any Wilco," when I mention them. I'll give it to her tomorrow. The challenges with this tape were to a) choose songs to leave off, and b) take the disparate sounds from Wilco's six albums (including the ones with Billy Bragg) and make them into one cohesive mix. I wound up forfeiting some of the most "country"-sounding songs ("Someday Soon" and "Pick Up the Change," for instance) in order to serve both of those issues, even though I love those tunes. At least I kept "Forget the Flowers."

Feedback:
Well done. She is well served by your efforts....., which "Shot In the Arm"? (! or 2....)
tis a shame that "far, far away" didn't make the cut either, but a nice mix overall.
Valis: that'd be Shot In the Arm #1.
And Conor: I agree about "Far Far Away." It a real challenge to gauge both what's essential and what works as an introduction to a band. Also had "When You Wake Up Feeling Old" on the list initially, and "hesitating Beauty" and and others. Something's always gotta give.

I think all of my favorite Wilco songs are on there...but I like "Someday Soon" a lot too.
