Comment:

September 2002's mix for Chris and Oscar and there's quite a lot to explain (as always seems to be the way with my mixes!). First off, the mix is called 74 in a sort of homage to 24, which finished its run last month in the UK. In addition to the cover image of Victor Drazen, I fashioned a "74" in the font style of "24" - that digital watch type font. The 24 connection can also be found on tracks 6, 17 and 23, all of which are recordings of the "seconds ticking" bits of 24. You know, the bits which happened several times each episode, accompanied by split-screen updates on what was happening to various characters. With me so far? Track 12 is a radio advert in the style of Feels Like Heaven by Fiction Factory, included because Oscar (and Chris, as far as I'm aware) is a big fan of that song and will probably find the fact that the song has been used in this way quite amusing. Track 25 is, would you believe it, a Dutch ska band. Don't ask... Track 26 is only included because it so unbelievably, shockingly BAD. It is abridged with a sound effect of a needle being hastily removed from a playing piece of vinyl (this was very tricky to achieve!). Track 27 then kicks in, an altogether more palatable cover version. The fact that it's a version of a song by an artist already featured on the mix is more by accident than by design. Enjoy!

Cheers valis. I hope Chris and Oscar appreciate the effort - I'm handing the discs over tonight! As for The Bolshoi, I have the album that the song is from (I forget the album's name) on vinyl. I guess I could burn a CD of it if asked...
