Comment:

This is obviously the sequel to My Altcountry Tis Of Thee...Vol.1, which was based loosely on a mix tape I made a few years back for a friend of mine who I suspected would love altcountry (whatever the hell that is, as some of who truly love the genre would say). The original version was called "It Takes A Nation Of Cowpunks To Hold Us Back." If I can dig up the track listing for that, I'll post it. Anyway, the same friend had a birthday coming up, and I'd promised her a replacement copy of "It Takes A Nation" (she'd worn out the first one), aso I figured that the time was ripe for a sequel.

Hey, you've captured 2 of my fave songs by the Jayhawks and Uncle Tupelo, among others. Great job!

Oh yes, this is wonderful. And though I prefer Tweedy and Wilco I do love that Son Volt song, and the whole first album, for that matter. Very nice.

Do you have the Uncle Tupelo Anthology that came out last fall? I got it for my Dad for Christmas, one day I came over to his house and I heard this twangy, country-fried version of "I wanna be your dog" coming out of his speaker and just about had an anyeurism b/c it was so cool. Nice job, Berg.

You've done it again, brotherman. Really nice job! I'm still waiting for my own special mix, you know...you owe me one! By the way, remind me sometime to tell you about the wacky dream I had about you and Tom Waits the other night, too--it was CRAZY! xx

both volumes of this set are damn fine but i'm most intrigued by the mike ness / springsteen combo. your 'best of' 2004 twang is also very tempting. i'd be interested in trading - please see if any of my mixes would be suitable for this, and let me know.
