Comment:

When I left Philadelphia, I made my friends a 6 CD mix collection. The songs that comprise those discs were taken from some of the 1,000 CDs I've had to sell since getting laid off to be able to afford a move to Chicago. Hence the title, Fallen Soldiers.

While not all of the songs are about leaving town, a big majority of the tracks here are. If you're ever making a Goodbye or breakup tape, consult some of these sources.

Here's some info about some of the tracks and why they're included:
- Note that this disc ends with the tracks that end the Beatles' "Abbey Road" album... so while it's technically 3 songs in a row by the same artist, it's kinda one song, too...
- Radiohead's "Let Down" is one of the all time best "I'm Out of Here" songs. "Let down and hanging around..."
- If you're making a break up mix, you should NEVER forget to include Jack Logan's "New Used Car." "I know a little stretch of highway/Hitchin' a ride, I'll tell you what I'll do/I drew out every penny of our savings/For a new used car and a plate of bar-be-cue."
- The part where the strings play the high notes in "Jesus, Etc," and then drop as Jeff sings "Our love..." puts the final nail in Yankee HOtel Foxtrot being one of the most gorgeous acheivements in pop music.
- "This Time Tomorrow" is from the Kinks' excellent "Lola" album. Go buy it. Now.

nice.....for me, the latter half of Abbey Road (from You Never Give Me Your Money on) rivals even the White Album in brilliance. Let Down is one of my favorite Radiohead tracks. Nice picks!!
