Comment:
When I left Philadelphia, I made my friends a 6 CD mix collection. The songs that comprise those discs were taken from some of the 1,000 CDs I've had to sell since getting laid off to be able to afford a move to Chicago. While not all of the songs are about leaving town, a big majority of the tracks here are. If you're ever making a Goodbye or breakup tape, consult some of these sources.
Here's some info about some of the tracks and why they're included:
- First and foremost, track 21 is fIREHOSE, Mike Watt's post-Minutemen band... not to be confused with shitty 80s metal popsters FireHOUSE.
-- "I'm Looking Through You" Great song, but this version is the kickass Anthology version that Wes Anderson originally wanted at the end of The Royal Tenenbaums.
-- The Creation track is just SICK... just as good a track as their "Making Time"
-- "I long to hold you in my arms and sway/Kiss n' ride on the CTA" __ Jeff Tweedy
-- Uncle Tupelo... just buy all their stuff. Start with "Still Feel Gone" or "Anodyne" (where this track comes from)
-- Best "Goodbye" song ever: Leonard Cohen's "Hey That's No Way to Say Goodbye"
Feedback:
good mix.
these mixes rock.
Thanks Kathleen... your mixes kick ass!
