Comment:

When I left Philadelphia, I made my friends a 6 CD mix collection. The songs that comprise those discs were taken from some of the 1,000 CDs I've had to sell since getting laid off to be able to afford a move to Chicago.

While not all of the songs are about leaving town, a big majority of the tracks here are. If you're ever making a Goodbye or breakup tape, consult some of these sources.

Here's some info about some of the tracks and why they're included:
- "Rip Rip" David Holmes is one FONKY white guy, and his OUT OF SIGHT soundtrack is essential listening. Then check out "Come Get it I Got it." This track features dialogue from Don Cheadle, among others.
- "NYC" Kills me every time I hear it.
- "Girl from the North Country" see NYC
- "Be There" This is the superior single version with vocals... not the good but kinda boring UNKLE album track.
- "Blue Line Swinger" this is the version with Georgia on vocals
- R.i.p. Jeff Buckley
- "Magdalene Lane" by Don McLean... yeah, the guy who did "American Pie." This song is an absolutely brilliant, scathing attack on Hollywood and L.A., using the symbolism of MGM's bankruptcy at the time and the death of Judy Garland, etc. "The wizard brought Benzadrine smiles, but he never let Dorothy doze" "Over the rainbow a Kansas tornado can whip up a little girl's head"
