SANTA'S VILLAGE Is Where You Find It! 2003
My annual Holiday comp, edition of 50 in full-packaging.
'Santa's Village' is 80 minutes with 40 tracks; 11 of those are seasonal soundclip-type intros and greetings from movies and tv sprinkled throughout. I eased some self-imposed nazi-like guidelines that I usually abide by for comps. Without the usual constraints crowding what should be an enjoyable prospect.. the creation ended up being VERY enjoyable. The result finds a larger number of original/atypical Xmas songs exhibiting a degree of subtley, there are more female-vocaled tracks, more instrumentals; a greater ratio of indie-type rock and a few vintagey-yet-not-overused numbers thrown in for good measure. As usual, YMMV.

Throughout the year, I nursed a micro-obsession with the semi-macabre, long-gone Santa's Village themepark franchise and I parlayed that enthusiasm into the imagery for this cd. You can explore the myth that was at: http://santasvillage.net/
