Comment:

Since people somehow NEED to know my thoughts about how this mix came about, let me say first and foremost: I have no thoughts about how this mix came about. I just put songs together I thought would flow, front to back. That being said: PIXIES Gigantic- one of the greatest songs ever by one of the greatest bands ever...everyone keeps putting "Where Is My Mind" on their mixes, I think because it's the only Pixies song they know (thanks, Fight Club), and they need old-school indie cred. TOMAHAWK Rape This Day- Faith No More was my favorite band ever, Tomahawk picks up the slack. Patton and Denison together=musical fun for daddy. PETE TOWNSHEND Let My Love Open The Door- great song from my youth, Pete and the Who remain the shiznit. ALKALINE TRIO We've Had Enough- I dunno who these guys are, but they rock. Virtually unheard of up here in Winnipeg. GETO BOYS Gangster of Love- I spent virtually all of a 1989 XXXmas vacation throughout the states looking for this tape. I Finally found it on the home stretch, in Indianapolis of all places. The one CD in my collection that definitely earned its "Parental Advisory" tag. ROB ZOMBIE Brick House- House of 1000 Corpses is gooey fun, plus Lionel RIchie helps out on this song. It makes the list just for Lionel alone. GRANDADDY AM 180- I have no idea about these guys either, but this is a neat song. CHARLIE PORN Encapsulated- Guys from Slipknot, Tool and Primus, having fun. HANK III AND THE MELVINS Okie from Muskogee- Any time Buzzo has to play without distortion, hijinks ensue. TOOL Hooker With A Penis- Not what your mom thinks its about. Maynard is, after Patton, probably the greatest vocalist working today. WHITE STRIPES- I Just Don't Know yadda yadda yadda- Everyone else is putting WS tunes on their playlists, why can't I? PRIMUS Over The Falls- just a cool song, with Les on the ol' standup bass. Nifty video too. HELMET Unsung- There's been a severe lack of Helmet in the world lately, I'm just trying to get everyone's daily Helmet allowance back up to par. JOHNNY CASH Rusy Cage- great song by a great man. Blows the Soundgarden original all to shit. BLUR Crazy Beat- I love this band. All hail Blur. Woo hoo, indeed. CYPRESS HILL Rock Superstar- Not such a big fan, but every now and then one of their songs touches me in ways I only felt possible when alone with a stoner uncle. This is one of those songs. EVERLAST Black Jesus- Cool song. I could probably sit and have a drink with Everlast, just before I was rushed to the hospital from jumping around while being alcohol poisoned. REEL BIG FISH Gigantic- A cover of the Pixies original, this time with a an 80's video game/dance club feel. RBF work for me.

K, those are my thoughts. Are Laurie and MSN happy now?

Does this music speak for itself? I hate it when people don't leave comments.

Totally worth asking!-- not only is this a cool mix, but I actually learned a lot from what you wrote-- you encouraged me to check out a few bands I don't usually listen to and appreciate more some of those I already do. That's the point of AOTM, I suppose. Thanks for writing, Lamicus, I certainly appreciate it.
