Comment:

Sub Pop was the first label I was loyal to. Whatever they released I would buy without hesitation. That wasn't the best of moves as they released a lot of shit in the 90s like Six Finger Satellite and Pond, which I bought. Anyway, the first eight bands are your classic grunge bands whom I worshopped. As high school was winding down I started to expand my horizons and blindly purchased stuff on Sub Pop (this is where the SFS and Pond mistakes were made!). I stumbled upon The Grifters and Sebadoh and became enamored with them. Sub Pop has been the label that really got me into music as a whole. This is disc is an accurate picture of how I became obsessed with music. These were the bands that got me wanting more and more. 1996 to 2004 is in the works. Stay tuned.

I got my first job when I was 17, in 1994. Upon receiving my first paycheck, I walked into a Sam Goody and purchased two tapes (yes, tapes). They were SDRE's "Diary" and Sebadoh's "Bakesale". No other music purchases have ever changed my life so much. I tend to forget how many great CD's SubPop has released over the years. Thank you for reminding me. Nice Mix.
