Comment:

I signed myself up for some huge mix trade, and I have to send five people a mix CD. I have no idea what they like, so in creating this mix, I just tried to make something a bit diverse - rock/pop, psychedelia, neo-classical, jazz, electronic, post-rock, indie, folk, french cabaret and punk - but as cohesive as possible, hoping the recipient will like something... or at least appreiate the flow.

This looks cool to me. I love the MbV, Joni, Mudhoney, Sun Ra, VU and Kinks picks, particularly.

You certainly have your bases covered. I never thought I'd see Stockhausen and Sun Ra in the same mix, but here it is. Gotta give you points for being bold and brave. As much as I like them, I think 11 & 12 are rather weak choices. If I was to make a mix for someone I didn't know, I'd try and stay off the beaten path as much as possible (which you've mostly done).

This looks good. I hope I'm one of your five. Long live the Kinks.

This looks all over the place in the best possible way, Salman. Superb Electric Prunes choice, and the rest is first class.

I love 11, but not 12. But hey, it's not my mix... for a guy who bristles when people post similar comments on one of his mixes, Mr. "lost" does enjoy tossing out minor-level criticism. ;-)

Being the Canadian that I am, and always disseminating my fellow countrypersons music, I thought I'd add some Canadian content... and Joni and Cohen are my two favourite Canuks. Both songs really flow into one another nicely and I think it works.
