Comment:
Some stuff I've picked up recently, some stuff I've rediscovered in odd corners of my collection, and a couple of cuts from fellow AotMers TNG (Don Quixote) and lostinthemix (Anything You Can Do). Title from the Tinklers.Feedback:
Looks neat. Digging the Neko Case and Mirah selections especially.
what I've heard I like
Looks good Jenny.
Nice.
Nice. I like these "odds and ends" mixes.
I'm with Salman re Neko Case & Mirah, likin' SFA & Stranglers trax too Jenny. Joan went all the way to the Pearly Gates didn't she?
This looks really great, Ms. Jenny.
A nice collection. Especially like the Stranglers, Louvin Bros & Howlin' Wolf picks.
Super cool! Great to see those goofballs Too Much Joy on a mix.
Looks like it did not come from my collection, which is always refreshing. Tish Hinojosa was a major public radio favorite when I was in Dallas about 12 years ago. Any opinion on her best?
superb. Love the howlin' Wolf and Magic Sam picks especially.
I'm with Mo. I love the odds and ends ... kinda like one of those long, rambling, stream-of-consciousness conversations ...
Nice mixed mix!
Yah, what Muzag said.
what little I know on here is lovely. I might fancy a trade with you sometime in the future. :) oh, and by the way, to answer your question--the bar in question that I'm sending my mix to is in Sonoma County in Northern California.
Great stuff ... the Wolf, Magic Sam, Tish, the Spankers, the Louvins ..... Hey, it's even got Doris Day!
Always nice to see someone discover or rediscover the Wolf & Magic Sam! And Django, and the Louvin Brothers, and....Nice
Glad to see you captured the Metrovavan! Mixed-n-matched...and fun.
Interesting, diverse mix! I'd like to hear that version of "I Started A Joke".
even moore cool
Liking this.
I missed a few of yours this year- I like the look of this one a lot.
Sign me up for this one!
Great collection, Jenergy! Was wondering about the title but caught it in the Tinklers, which BTW is a killer song (no pun intended) especially on the heels of "Don Quixote" which also lists famous folk. Lots to like here. Great Fench selections: A cause du soleil and Blues Gourmand (il mange toujours). Doris and Robert doing Annie Get Your Gun is too camp for camp - fun touch. Thx for the trade!
what a great stack of music! "Cow Cow Boogie" is a brilliant song to open a mix. I taped it off my grandma's Reader's Digest LP set w/ some other cool stuff when I was 16. now I have my own E.M. Morse CD and the whole thing swings. howlin' wolf, neko case...django, doris... very cool. I'd love to acquaint myself w/ some of the others.
Jenergy, I am really enjoying this one. I agree with TornadoZ-Ella Mae Morse is just phenomenal, this Western Swing (?) is my new favorite genre I know regrettably little about. There is not a stinker on the bunch, of course, but I'm p-a-r-t-i-c-u-l-a-r-l-y enjoying your taste in the country-ish. How did you do with the anagrams? I'll have that CD out with so other goodies after I finish this little grad school emergency...Best, Mike
That Tinklers song is awesome. I don thee Queen of The Unique Song Collection.
Sorry, I deem thee. Must sleep.
