There's Nothing Like Living in a Bottle
Comment:
Jack and I had such fun making our last mix that we decided to do it again. A strange thing happened to me while making this mix . . . I became. . . contemplative . . . serene . . . melodic. This mix probably has the lowest BPM of any I've ever done. It's kind of neat. I guess Jack has a calming influence on me.Of course, I did have to take the edge of mellowness off by having happy Klezmer fans grace the mix with their bottle-icious presence.
It's downloadable as individual tracks which will annoy some of you and delight others. Deal with it.
Title from Cat Power.
Feedback:
Some really fine mixes on the boards of late. This is yet another fine example. And, here's a five star for you...
Jenny, you're evens here. I've never been more certain of anything in my life! Excellent stuff, especially the 7-14 bit in t'middle..
It's a corker! (Ha ha ha ha, d'ya get it?) Now that's comedy. No wait, it isn't, it really isn't. Still, this is a corking mix. Good to see Vashti Bunyan and Gillian Welch on any mix. Well, not any mix, but, but, well, you know what I mean; and even if you don't, at least I do, I think.
You guys are on a roll here. This is a wonderful mix and it's hard to believe two mixes side by side using Pearls Before Swine songs. I really, really like the Gillian Welch, Cat Power, & Apples In Stereo picks. But then there's that awesome Mambo Sinuendo.
looks like a great listen -- glad to see gllian welch & apples in stereo on a mix together...
this one's a lot more low key that I'd expect from you. ;) I'm delighted by the download, available as individual tracks. will be taking advantage and then return with full report.
low key works for me . . .
Some really great stuff here, as always, particularly the PBS, S & G, Cat Power, Devendra, Gillian, and Nina picks.
D'oh! I'd forgotten that I last logged on as SwankExpress... that first comment is from *me,* not Ms. SwankQueen, although I'm sure she'd dig this mix, as well.
Downloading this! (I'm very pleased with the individual tracks.)
I feel the chemistry on this.
Go Jenergy! Keep Jack happy! (Isn't there a song about that..?)
Great ending and nice BowWowWow into Mama.
really looking forward to hearing this.
This is lovely. Yes, a change - but you're a good mixing pair and I like it a lot.
I had to download this simply to hear a band that goes by the most righteous moniker of Pianosaurus, and although they weren't what I expected (primal roars combined with a guy smashing apart a piano with a sledgehammer, of course) I was nonetheless satisfied because the rest of this mix is great! Also, props for including my favorite Vashti song ever.
that 10-17 stretch is the shiznitt.
good lord this is fanTAStic.
L'Chaim!

Quite the partnership. Love 3, 10, 11, 12, and 17.
good lord, I'm even later with my comment on this mix than Salman1. I had a double helping of Jernergy mixes yesterday, favorites on this one include the tracks by Katell Keineg, Devendra Banhart, Laibach, the Hampton String Quartet, Vashti Bunyan, Bow Wow Wow... but one of the best things I've ever heard on AotM is that incredible Caetano Veloso song, "Diana." a pure delight!
