Comment:
Catchy, kitschy, lovingly overproduced 70s pop, heavy on warmly murky electric pianos, reverb, and the occasional string section. I used to be ashamed that I liked these songs. OK, I'm still ashamed of a few of these. I listen to very little music like this these day, but these songs have burrowed deep into my lizard brain. Could it have been otherwise? The first single I ever bought, as a young lad, was "It's Magic," by Pilot. ("Ho, ho, ho It's magic you know Never believe, it's not so.") I should have put that here but I lost the single years ago and haven't bothered to download it.Feedback:
Yes, you managed to capture many of my worst nightmares. Some still offer me great (if guilty) joy, particularly "Sky High"; others are too horrid to play voluntarily. If you've got the cash, you really ought to invest in Rhino's excellent "Have A Nice Decade" box set, which has pretty much all the great bad 70's music one could ever want (including, yes, "Magic" -- a truly great song).
Plenty of guilty pleasures here, worthy of revulsion or affection, or both!
