Comment:

Catchy, kitschy, lovingly overproduced 70s pop, heavy on warmly murky electric pianos, reverb, and the occasional string section. I used to be ashamed that I liked these songs. OK, I'm still ashamed of a few of these. I listen to very little music like this these day, but these songs have burrowed deep into my lizard brain. Could it have been otherwise? The first single I ever bought, as a young lad, was "It's Magic," by Pilot. ("Ho, ho, ho It's magic you know Never believe, it's not so.") I should have put that here but I lost the single years ago and haven't bothered to download it.

Yes, you managed to capture many of my worst nightmares. Some still offer me great (if guilty) joy, particularly "Sky High"; others are too horrid to play voluntarily. If you've got the cash, you really ought to invest in Rhino's excellent "Have A Nice Decade" box set, which has pretty much all the great bad 70's music one could ever want (including, yes, "Magic" -- a truly great song).

Plenty of guilty pleasures here, worthy of revulsion or affection, or both!
