Inspired by MOJO magazine's recent, excellent, special issue on the history of electro-pop, I decided to put together a little mix of early electro-pop goodies. MOJO focuses much of its attention on the very early years of synth-driven pop and on two groups: depeche mode and the human league. That's why I've got so much of each. Generally, my picks are the songs that sound the least like the sounds these groups were later known for. The title of my mix as you trainspotters will no doubt have figured out is a reference to a seminal Detroit radio show that helped to birth techno later in the 80s.
