Ben's Misirlou Mix
Comment:
A truly unusual mix CD. These are all different versions of the tune "Misirlou" which most of you might know from "Pulp Fiction", but is in actuality, an ancient hebrew dance song. The word is hebrew for egyptian, thus the middle eastern feel. To me, its interesting hearing these VERY different version butting up against one another. Enjoy!Feedback:
Great choice for a one song mix!
I knew Mirsilou was old but I didn't realize it was an ancient Hebrew dance. Thanks for the education.
awesome - and i can think of another two dozen or so versions. great tune.
Wow! And no Dick Dale!
Actually, I think that 'Misirlou' is Greek, not Hebrew...12 years of Hebrew studies and I've never heard that word...I love the variety of this mix, and it just goes to show how some songs can just apply themselves to so many different genres
all these versions but no dick dale...
and i'm apparently just repeating saaf..

Great idea; superb mix! If you're thinking of a 2nd vol, I'd recommend seeking out versions from Gallon Drunk, Davy Graham & Lynn Hope
Wow, impressive! And educational. Great contrasts.
Outstanding! Gonna add this one to "Never Too Much of a Good Thing." Check it out at Exhibits.
Love this song. And that song...and that song...
Bitchen! I think Dick Dale is of middle-eastern extraction.
