Comment:

A mix for the guy who arguably writes the best liner notes on AotM . It's really great making mixes for your fellow AotMers, and I highly recommend it. I had as much fun making this one as did making a mix for lanhamyodel . The three of us had a great time in DC last week, talking music, drinking beers, and trading music.

Knowing Dead Man's penchant for making mixes on socio-political-economic historical themes, I tried to include songs that would fit into a number of topics that might be of interest to him, as well as trying to match what I perceive to be his musical tastes.

Title from Ozomatli.

This does look like a deadman sort of mix. Nice job.

I've been working on a tribute mix for Deadman, myself...and I agree the thematic and detailed approach of his mixes leaves my attempts a tad wanting.

This, on the other hand, looks simply delightful.

well now, i'll be the first to second Dead Man's liner notes award... that's the kind of thing that made me want to start writing detailed liner notes in the first place, don'tcha know.

All the artist I know here are great, and I hope that this mix will inspire Dead Man to come up with many more great mixes accompanied by accurate and insightful liner notes.

Talking and trading music while drinking beer. AoTM is awesome!!!
I agree that detailed liner notes are important to a mix. Sometimes vital to the mix.

I find myself in the same situation as sammyg. This mix is filled with "the great and...the undiscovered". Jenergy's usual perspicacity will, I've no doubt, ensure consistency and quality throughout. Phew, "what's he going on about?" I think I'm trying to say I like it, and as soon as I "discover" the eight artists I don't yet know, I believe I'll like it more. AOTM is one of the best ways to expand musical knowledge and enjoyment, and for that Jenergy I thank you.

A big thank you to Jenergy for this excellent mix. Like sammyg, Nomates and French Connection, I wasn't familiar with several of the tracks included here. As Jen mentioned, we got together for beers a few days ago with fellow AotM'er lanhamyodel. She explained that she chose some of the tracks because she thought I could work them into a theme mix, and so I've been thinking along those lines. Whatever I come up with I'll explain in the liner notes. I've been out of the loop recently. We moved earlier this month and for some reason, even though we moved less than a block away from our old address and we still have the same phone number, for some reason we haven't been able to establish our DSL connection. Rest assured that when I'm connected to the Internet again I'll be posting mixes again.
