Comment:

Continuing in my series of discs in which I try to think like other mixers: this one's geared toward someone who's more fun, challenging, and categorically diverse than the $64 Pyramid. For some reason, mg's mixes always make me kind of nostalgic, so I dug out a lot of stuff I was listening to in the 80s (some of it actually FROM the 80s, but much from a decade or two prior). I don't I'd listened to Blue Magic for, oh 15 years. But they seem to fit here, and so I took the title from them.

This is absolutely fantastic. I second Mark's love for all things Mountain Goats, but you certainly know that already...

A worthy mix for a worthy mixxxer. I'm sure he'll love this, since he has such a tiny music collection ;)

As Moe says, the 'gnome clearly needs an infusion of new music to flesh out his spartan collection.
(Just wondering Jenergy: did you find yourself, in the back of your mind as you tried to "think like other mixers", constantly wandering off in daydreams of the offshore banking business?)

Great one, Jenny! Tons of fantastic choices - Liliput into BFF is inspired; love the Francoise Hardy, Kirsty MacColl, Ike & Tina and Wire too. And well-deserved for Mr. Gnome too.

I was just listening to the Wild Beasts single and thought I'd search for it and suddenly there was your terrific mix.
