Comment:
a/k/a: Corporal Capsicum's Cryptic BewildermentAll good music resembles something. Good music stirs by its mysterious resemblance to the objects and feelings which motivated it.
---Jean Cocteau
Psychologically speaking, to discover something mysterious in objects is a symptom of cerebral abnormality related to certain kinds of insanity.
---Giorgio de Chirico
((( This one has been on paper so long it was starting to fade into a palimpsest; lest I forget the way-and become bewildered as well, I attempted the completion. Here's what he have, either a document of my feelings or a sign of symptoms which..well...hmm. Yes. Anyway, here it is. I spank it and send it out.)))
Feedback:
I see something mysterious in this...oh dear. Perhaps it's the older writing showing through...Nah, I'll stop fannying about -- It's just a thing of beauty -- now where's the mystery in that. What a striking cover you present. Worth the wait, I'd say.
"No more things should be presumed to exist than are absolutely necessary." - William Of Occam - The mix exists it is not presumption, therefore it is absolutely necessary a copy finds it's way to moi.
Glorious. Love the Beatles through Hollies run especially. That Cocteau is on to something. Chirico? He's just nuts. Keep spanking it Valis!
Beautiful. A wonderful blend of all and new. And the inclusion of Moon and We All Together has not gone unnoticed.
That is fantastic imagery as well...even when I open my eyes.

Corporal Capsicum, indeed. Looks mighty hot to me. I'll even go one step further than the Curbruiner and say, "Love the Fat Mattress through Tomorrow stretch especially."
Now this is weird...:-0
I could have sworn I saw a mix by you posted on the 'Recent 100' page yesterday evening. Then, this morning, when I checked, I realized that I probably dreamt it (no wonder I can't find any mixes lately). Hah, now I check the mix-board in my dreams (and it's worse than that.the cover images come to life!...someone please post a mix cover of Salma Hyak).
Anyway. . . Looking very nice, here, Mr. Hertel.

Heavens! I won't be pretend to know even most of this but I know the field you are plowing. What I do know, Brother Valis, is that twisting one up for a listen would give me great pleasure. As always, a chef-d'oeuvre.
Oo boy thislooks GOOD (and that goes for the cover as well)
Every one of your mixes is a mysterious voyage, Valis, and each peppered with cryptic bewilderment. Looks lovely (and a great cover image too).
Wonderful mix, Valis. Beautiful imagery and track selections.
Great! Love that Tomorrow tune, especially, but also dig Moon, Circ System, Hollies, Apples and more. Good to see you in action.
Got to agree with the comments below... great selections creating a wonderful mix of images.
Man, it's always a treat to see a new one from you on the board, valis. Won't pretend to know much of this ( though that Apples in Stereo track is my favorite by them), but I'm quite certain it's a glorious trip.
Awesome, awesome mix. Interesting that you have the opener from that Circulatory System album as the closer on your mix... but I'm sure it works!
I've been thinking about mystery quite a bit recently. It's harder to find these days in the face of advertizing and Google. Gotta search for the questions before you go searching for the answers.
This looks interesting.
Looks misterioso, and maravilloso as well. What a long strange viaje it's been.
I've often wondered what that Dukes track was about. Now I've got eighteen other far-out puzzlers to ponder.
wow, me wantee. just the artwork alone gives me major wood. or would that be colonel wood?
Awesome!
As per usual...............Excellent work, myseriously sublime........Can't wait to trip it!
Beatiful cover. Harkens back Hipgnosis. And that I only know a handful of the tunes makes me shriek where is the link? You know better, Valis sir. And this is better than most of what I have seen. The link sir, the link....
Gee whiz, this is good. Really wiggy!
A fine return to form -- not that you had a form that you needed to return to. Hell. I'm not making any sense. What I meant to say is that this mix looks outstanding. I think I might even already know half the songs (i.e. the Moon, Beatles, We All Together), which is most unusual when it comes to your mixes. Lovely and simple cover too. So do you have that Los Shakers album?? We need to talk!
hey valis...cool cover.nice selection of tunes.. unfamiliar with a number of them which always sparks the curiosity..any sitars on this.?
T'riff. Doffed hat, etc. Love the jousting quotes, especially.
Sweet mix, and nice lookin' jellyfish brain on the cover.

F'shaw!
Looks like . . . a splendid time presented by Mister Mystery, the Mandala Man, the invaluable valis.
I can only hope that someday my jellyfish brain will get to wrap its tentacles around this. Then I'll be in Happy Land!

This looks great, Valis. I say with confidence that everyone will discover something mysterious in this object. Thank god for cerebral abnormalities! I always look forward to hearing you mixes because I always make new discoveries.
Fascinating and beautiful.
nice one
We Are Happy (Afghanistan) ???

Looks like a lovely way to usher in spring.
Wow. This is a cool mix. Love the Dukes and 'those 4 loveable moptops from Scouseland' tracks. Good job.
It starts out with a hesitant surprise and then suddenly "catches" in a groove like a well oiled machine. That Apples in Stereo-Virgineers-E.G.V.O.-Dukes of Strat moment sent me flying, and the rest of the mix relaxes out in mellow fashion. A decidedly superior mix by a consistently intelligent Art-of-the mix'er! Bravo!
Fabulous mix. Nice trippy feel and heavy Beatles influence. That "Two Bits" song about the freak show is an incredible find; who is Kevin Hickel anyway? Other highlights for the occasion were the Apples in Stereo (never noticed that side of them before - context is important), Dukes of Strat and the Shakers "BBB Band." Outstanding piece of mixmaking by the V. (One teeny complaint, my CD was missing the Tomorrow track.)
Faultless, and I love the cover. Like a stripped bare Paul Laffoley concoction.
