Comment:
Some will decry that damned Bunny, bringing eggs, as being unconnected with the "true meaning" of the Holy Day.., others will fall back on this supposed "true meaning" and stop right there, not seeking antecedents of the usurpation."The Jews, the Muslims, and the Christians, they've got it all wrong. The people of the world only divide into two kinds: one sort with brains who hold no religion; the other with religion and no brain." -Abu-al-Ala Al Marru, 10th Century Syrian Poet
"Beware the man of a single book." -Bertrand Russell
"For those who believe in God, most of the big questions are answered. But for those of us who can't readily accept the God formula, the big answers don't remain stone-written. We adjust to new conditions and discoveries. We are pliable. Love need not be a command or faith a dictum. I am my own God. We are here to unlearn the teachings of the church, state, and our educational system. We are here to drink beer. We are here to kill war. We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us." -Charles Bukowski
Feedback:
Transcendent! Great liner notes -that's quite a trinity you quote. As for the mix - some fine selections. As always, you manage to avoid the obvious.
Very nice stuff. And, thought provoking. I always enjoy hearing people's thoughts on Religion vs. Spirituality. And, though I do not agree that those whom devote them selves to religion as being brainless, I would staunchly defend your right to say so. I, for one, follow the doctrine G. Carlin, whom said "Keep thy Religion to thy self."By the way, this mix is absolutely stunning...for MANY reasons, but particularly for it's unexpected, but jaw droppingly perfect selections. Bravo.
Quite wonderful. Your selections make this a fine mix alone. Add to it great liner notes and wonderful artwork and you've got something beautiful.
Hear hear... fantastic mix, concept, art, etc.
Hmmm...all of a sudden it's "Skyline wha'..?" (it's gone out me head, despite 12v_man's attempts to reinsert it).
Nice rack...of songs Herr Valis!

Stunning.....beware indeed.
yep... I don't much like snakes, though. I do like the tunes...
nice closer ;)
Don't know much, but it looks pretty snappy!
Books are stories, and songs are music.
Almost Easter. There is a full moon out tonight...
"This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness." -Dalai Lama. My simple comment, beautiful. Track 2 is on constant replay over here in France. May the Easter bunny bring you a sack full o' choc mon ami.
The Lost Gospel of Valis. Full of gnosticism with a cover that will make one drop their conclusions in search for a higher plane. Not at all at war with the mystics and very well done.
Everyone needs something to believe in. I believe I'll have another beer. Make mine Guinness, please, and thank you.Where'd you get the picture of DJ Karen?
Brilliant, valis! You've captured the true meaning of redemption.
Looks very interesting Valis.
The Abu-al-Ala Al is a little too extreme. The Bertrand Russell is better. But I love the Bukowski almost as much as I love this mix. Very nice work Valis. Very, very nice.
And the cover art ain't half bad either.
God awe full (the new and unimproved German orthography applied to English). ;) An excellent selection of (t)racks, and, needless to say, I'm down with Abu-Al-Ala Al Marri.
Brilliantly done!
He is risen. He is risen indeed! Amen. I fully expect to find this & a box o' peeps in the post ASAP. On a totally unrelated note, I just turned my girlfriend's nine year old son onto Dungen. Now that's religion fer y'all!
Another excellent mix. I bet if Abu-al-Ala Al Marru said what he said today theor'd be a fatwa out for his life!
where did you get that cover art? its wild..with the keys coming out of her meral dress and the accupuncture needles through the hands..looks in the spirit of giger..cool mix.nice thread of spirit through out it..lemon pipers bring it home.
If this is even half as good as your last mix, then pop it in a padded envelope and lob it my way! Love the Chad & Jeremy, SFA and the rowdy Pipers. That mystery track is fantastic too!
There's a music man after my own heart!
I bet if the Lemon Pipers knew they'd made it into this mix-mystic company, they'd be proud pipers.
"If you won't pray in my schools, I promise not to think in your church."

This looks beautiful, V.
Re: the quotes...I always wonder why we, as a people, can't simply adhere to our own beliefs
without putting down the opposing view. To rail on about one's specific belief (or against another's) seems to me to say one is not quite grounded in their own (Tom Cruise is the perfect example - talk about someone
with issues -- if you're not into Scientology (by the by, a religion created by a Science Fiction
writer), he flips you the bird?).
Vegans often rag on the evils of red meat (can't they simply enjoy their Garden Burger?)
Atheists become obsessed with Theistic beleif (as if one negates the other)
Christians frown on anything other than their own beliefs
Radical, fundamentalist Islam totally perverts its religion as they pursue the "infidels"
Even religions that differ only slightly refuse to sit down at the Communion Table and break bread together (aren't they, ultimately, on the same side?)
Both views (on any given subject) can coexist. I guess, though, it's in our very nature to start slinging
nasty looks, then words...and then weapnory.

Bloody Hell! How in blue blazes did I miss this? Shows you that I have been out of the proverbial loop. Mon ami, as usual this looks fandango. I love the BSU tune. I used to hang out with John Lincoln Wright when he left BSU and went, believe it or not, country. Once again you leave me, a novice, speechless.
i don't know some of these artist but just based on your comments , i would love to hear this mix. interesting.
Me, I like eggs almost as much as Bertrand Russell. Not sure how I missed this fucking thing. 'Tis a beaut' Valis. Love the ISB, UoE and TSoOL especially.
Thoroughly amazing! (I meant to comment on this ages ago, but my keyboard was uncontrollably messed up that day.) Great cover, too!
Cher Valis, I cannot comment on the music yet, but I am very interested by the sentiments, quotes and ideas.Great tits, too !
This is a beautiful blend of old and new.
Cant believe I missed this one too. The quotations are great. Right up my alley. The music is tremendous as ever.
I'm seeing stars... 5 of them to be precise.
Great-looking mix, especially the Wilco and SFA; put those tracks together on a Voltaire mix. The Syrian poet, I think, oversimplifies matters, but the other two quotes are excellent.
