Comment:

Roger Keith Syd Barrett, 1946-2006
Tracks collected over quite a period of time, always waiting for "some day." Today is that day. Goodbye Syd...the Piper at the Gates of Dawn awaits. "...that cat's somethin' I can't explain..!"

Even though Syd hasn't been actively recording for quite some time, he will be missed. He was a true original. Glad you were collecting these tracks, Valis, because this is certainly a timely tribute.

A fine tribute. Nice use of my Syd Barrett single-artist mix title, as well.

Thanks for the early notification of Syd's demise. One mix from you that wasn't eagerly awaited tho! Truth be known he's been gone some time eh! By Syd you can, 'Play with Emily On Yer bike now for all eternity.'

Nice tribute, Valis. The head of our Graphics Dept. emailed me the obit. earlier today. I thought it was cool of the Floyd boys to keep some royalties flowing Mr. Barrett's way. I guess there's always that Great Gig in the Sky...

Oh! - like Barrydali, I just learned now of his passing through this mix - how sad, the man was a true maverick, and for me the absolute nucleus of PF. Long live Syd!

Great tribute sir. This is almost like a New York Times obituary, which are written ahead of time and then published at the time of death. Mojo had a nice article on him in a recent issue. Wish I had bought it now.

Thanks for putting this together, Valis. I spent much of today listening to Pied Piper and crying. Yeah, I felt a little silly crying my way through "The Gnome" but there you are. This is a lovely and fitting tribute.
