Comment:
Music has always embodied the extremes of passion, from selfless altruism to monomaniacal demands. There have always been songs about death, violence, and sex; in many cases, women are portrayed as hapless victims, unable to defend themselves against the anger of an enraged lover. The songs on this mix are from a specific subset of this genre in which the male narrator of the song details his action (intended, threatened, or completed) while also detailing the behavior of the woman in question, drawing a clear causal link between her behavior (generally either saying "no" to him, or saying "yes" to someone else) and his subsequent brutality.
To balance it out, we have a few songs from the distaff side. These women are willing to be victims of their own romances, relinquishing all control of their lives, relationships, and bodies to someone who's dangerously unqualified or painfully unworthy. They accept (or in the case of Joannie Sommers, invite) the abusive behavior their men heap on them.
Last songs cut: "Lovely Creature" by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and "Rape Me" by Nirvana. Thanks to Moe for the Patsy Montana and Joey de Vivre for the Emile Ford.
If you know what's good for you, you'll download Part one and Part two. Don't make me have to set you straight about this.

Feedback:
I will put this on my plate and lick it clean, Merci Jen! Final 6, no hang on all of it is toooo snazzy
Yes, please. This is bonkers. And John is so sexy in "Run For Your Life".
I like the theme, but I'm sad to say that I don't know most of these songs.
But I might be so bold as to recommend "Where The Wild Roses Grow" by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds.

This is really, really, really great, oh lovely one. I'm downloading now...
Ah that Jen, she put a spell on me.
i am speechless -- i have no speech! this is excellent excellent excellent! what a marvelous idea & what a great execution...
I expected to see The Stones' Under My Thumb'here before I even scrolled down but see you went for 'It's All Over Now' good shout Jen & a terrific mix; Well worth a MotW if you ask me.
Whack-a-doo! No "comfy pillow" torture here!
Holy shit. Reading these tracks and commentary has flush as those two cheeks.
Wow, that's certainly one of the most interesting mixes I've seen - very, very much looking forward to hearing this one once YSI gets its act together (I can only download part 2, part 1 has been giving me a "system busy" message all day). Until then, I can say that the Bessie Smith & Elmore James tracks are two of my absolute favourite blues numbers and that there's plenty of other great stuff on there, too.
Wow - what a theme, and what selections. And what cover art. Ooh la la... If you do a part 2, I got a track or two for ya ("Knock her down", "Give her the axe, Max.", etc.)
way cool
Wow, fabulous mix, Jen. I am glad I am not the only person who cringes at the Joanie Somers song. Great collection. Hot pic too.
Brilliant, but kind of creepy, don't you think? I've tried assembling this kind of thing several times, but somehow my irony always fails me partway through. Congrats on seeing it through to a spanking conclusion!
My kinda cover art.
Like ofthaltned, I've only been able to download the "backside" of the mix . . . but the whole thing looks great!
Jenny you naughty girl, this looks fab. Highlights (before listening) include the Bessie Smith, Cramps & Joe Tex picks. Nice closing 4 as well. Look forward to hearing that version of Under My Thumb.
Wonderful picture of Kyle McLachlan spanking Julianne Moore as well...

Great work Jen. Cool tracks and utterly non-PC! Thanks.
Fantastic concept and looking forward to hearing it! I'm really glad you included that Beatles track on there - I love it but it always, well, creeps me out slightly. Also love the Prodigy cut. And I third the Joanie Somers comments!
such a good idea, and it came out so well
This looks incredible, Jenny. Very worthy of MOTW, if you ask me.
Spankingly fanny-tastic mix Jenergy! I was out of town and caught it just before it sunk into the non-most recent 50 abyss. I promise to download, so I don't have to face the wrath of a woman scorned ;)
By George, I think she's got it!
Wow . . . you're setting some seriously high mixology standards. Thanks for your efforts, and the downloads!
It hurts so good!
Seriously creepy AND great!
Wow, not sure how I missed this one but ... wow. Really great Jen.
Great idea and, of course, stellar execution. This one can use more volumes. Under My Thumb should fit.
Oo-er, I guess we deserved this.
great presentation
