Comment:

Pink Floyd's "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" is long enough
to wrap around twice, and lovely enough to warrant repeated listens.TV On The Radio glimmer with 24-carat optimism
in "Golden Age."Frank Sinatra & Antonio Carlos Jobim have the world on a Bossa nova
string in "Baubles, Bangles & Beads."Jenny Lewis's mom lands herself in a gold-plated
body suit over a "Rabbit Fur Coat."The Apples in Stereo remind us that our thoughts are our most precious
jewels of all in "Shine In Your Mind.""A Carrot Is As Close As A Rabbit Comes To A Diamond,"
say Captain Beefheart & the Magic Band in an instrumental
that is as close as rock comes to perfection.Paul Simon's girl has "Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes" - or are they Swarovski crystals? The Zheng lutists of "A Jade Chain" strum their way to a place above the clouds where Chinese Hakka music reigns supreme. My Brightest Diamond mourn a lost love in "I Had A Pearl."Aphex Twin cut a stone to sparkling perfection in "Yellow Calx."The Hold Steady mine gems from double ent*ndres in Yeah Sapphire.T. Rex reveal what J.R.R. Tolkien would have been like as a rock star in "Jewel."Maria Callas debuted in La Gioconda, her costume jewellery
was as striking as her incredible talent. Act 2 finds her reciting "Il Rosario."
Sergio Alvarez makes earrings shimmer effortlessly in "Los aretes."Sonny Ch*rles & the Checkmates pledge to give a "Black Pearl" a chance to shine.Isaac Hayes` shaven head, sunglasses and love of gold jewellery stuck out immediately, but the brilliance of early recordings like "Precious, Precious" took a while to catch on.Mott the Hoople want to pry "Momma's Little Jewel" from the chest.Brian Eno invites us on an ambient romp "Among Fields Of Crystal."
Iron & Wine trade a beauty queen's crown
to a "White Tooth Man" for a wad of already-spent cash."Pearls On A String" finds Ryan Adams strung out on love's ch*rms once again.KRS-One expounds on the hidden sting of materialism in "Bling Blung."

Quite an eclectic mix of artists and styles in a good way. It's a theme I haven't seen explored before. If you are able to put up a link, I'm sure many would appreciate it.

I discovered while posting this mix that the high-security intranet at my workplace won't let me upload the music here. But never fear - I'll post a link to the music tonight, so if you are interested in hearing it, be sure to check back later.
