Comment:

I just did this to amuse me really. Its a mix of covers that I like with all the original artists in brackets..its OK but doesn't actually hang together all that well in reality. Ho hum. The titles from an Osmonds song that just popped into my head. It was covered (badly) in the UK by Boyzone (they are as bad as they sound) who have also massacred Cat Stevens' Father and Son and Baby Can I Hold You? in recent times.

Thoughts on this mix:
St. Etienne are a GREAT covers band (their versions of Stranger in Paradise, La Poupee Qui Fait Non and Kiss and Make Up are all sublime) while The Smiths are NOT.

Yes, that is THE Tracey Ullman. Did her musical career cross the Atlantic? She made one cute album of assorted covers with a real 60's feel before she went on to invent The Simpsons! ;)

Does anyone out there have a copy of the cover that Pam Berry and one of the guys from Blueboy did of Mad World by Tears for Fears? I would so love to hear that.

that tracy ullman song had minor success in the US as well...i didn't know it was a Kirsty MacColl song though. and not to split hairs, but she didn't invent the simpsons...matt groening of Life in Hell fame did, along with Sam Simon and James L. Brooks (who if i remember correctly, were producing Tracy's show at the time. and i too would love to hear that Pam Berry cover, since she does the best covers (downtown, friday i'm in love and crazy town when she was in glo-worm...)

A fine piece of work Kathryn. I'm not familiar with most of this. Nice to see Rainy Day on here. Isn't that Suzanna Hoff doing the vocals on that one? True, Tracey Ullman didn't create the Simpsons, but arguably the Simpsons would never have existed without that show.

Agree with Ion Moe on that one...and I'm quite sure that everyone knows who 'invented' the Simpsons, Brandt...perhaps Kathryn meant something more along the lines of "helped them get their start?"...nice mix BTW!

Erm, The Simpsons thing was a JOKE! Hence the winking smily face.

I have spent a large enough portion of my life watching that wonderful show to know who its creator was :)
