Comment:
This is a deviation from the norm, as far as my mixes go. First, it's actually a double CD rather than a cassette (I have, however, entered it as a cassette so I can show both sides, because I tihnk it's beneficial in this case to have them side-by side). Secondly, it violates all my self-imposed rules of duplicate artists and flow because it's a concept album. The idea here was to tell a story of both sides of a relationship from start to finish. CD 1 shows the male side, CD 2 shows the female side (only male\female singers used, respectively.)Anyway, the story I'm telling is this: A boy and a girl are very lonely. The boy sees the girl and finds her attractive. In fact, more than attractive, he desires her with every fibre of his being. But she seems uninterested. Meanwhile, she waits for him to approach her, hoping he feels the same way. Eventually, he asks her out. They have rampant sex, which later turns into more loving sex. We're up to Track 7 by now. The boy decides he needs some space to think, he's not sure if he's that deeply in love. The girl becomes upset at this perceived rejection, and then, when the boy decides that he wants to be with her, forever, she reacts badly to the sudden shift, from being resigned to a break up, to feeling trapped, like he's just keeping her around to satisfy his desires rather because he loves her. She is unfaithful to him, and though she regrets it, he finds out and tells her that he's aware of what she's done, and that it's over. She tries to get forgiveness, she still wants him, but though he still loves her, he can't continue after what she's done. They go their seperate ways, he looks back regretfully on the relationship, and she looks towards the future, having learnt from the experience. That's the severely truncated version, by the way, I hope to expand hugely upon it on my website (http://www.jrhunt.co.uk) once I get around to updating the music section. A more insightful commentary with lyrical analysis and perhaps, if I can flex the creative writing muscles, a companion story.Incidentally, I did this whole thing, on a whim, in just under 3 hours, finishing at 3:15am. My nature as a pedant and perfectionist dictates that tomorrow, I'd probably be so dissatisfied with this I wouldn't have even entered it into this site, so I'm putting it straight up now.Just to note, the story isn't something I've ever experienced first hand, just my musical interpretation.Feedback:
