Comment:
Like the Honorable Muzag, this is just a "concept" mix.., does not presently exist except on paper and this page..., like Thomas Mohr I'm not really embarrassed by any band I like.., too old for that. (Thanks to Justin Maelzer for the concept. It was good to make one for the hell of it!) 1. A song from the last record you bought 2. A blues: not a necessarily a blues record but a song that is labelled (something) blues 3. A song that gets you going in the morning 4. A song that you think is romantic 5. One of the earliest records that you can remember listening to. 6. A song that you discovered from a film 7. A song from your favourite band / artist 8. A song from an artist band that you otherwise don't like, but like this one 9. A Lullaby. 10. A song that makes you laugh / you find funny 11. A really good cover version 12. A song that reminds you of school days 13. A song from an artist that you are embarrassed to admit you like 14. Whatever it is, it's got to be funky 15. A song for those quiet rainy days 16. A song that no matter when you hear it makes you `Feelgood' 17. A song with the word `Look' in the title 18. From a member of the `Dead rockers society' 19. Your favourite Elvis song. 20. Wildcard - Hey, just put any song you like on!Feedback:
Some great stuff on here. Is Octopus the same Octopus that did a song called Girlfriend? In a wierd twist, I was exposed to that song via a mix tape by someone on this mix. Nice out of the box choice for the dead rocker pick. Maybe that is the letter K I need to choose to resume the RSE.
It is the same Octopus.., good stuff. Yes, the RSE needs resuming!
great mix! I have been, (oh so slowly) compiling my own Frankie mix, and come see about me is on it! That old swiss guy rears his ugly head once again. Fine pix all round.
"Gooud...mix gooud", said the monster, behind a crooked smile, (fingers outstretched,
forearms spastically gyrating).
some memory blasters here, a-k/V; esp luv picks 2, 3, 5, 8, 12, 14, 16 & 19.
Man, I'm gonna' have t'go under hypnosis to retrieve the early song (Mom's old 45's + a version
of My Melancholy Baby, by an artist whose name presently escapes me).
Frank-ly, I'd pour a stein full of foamy brew and play this monster...on
repeat!

Very cool, as always, valis. That Badfinger track is an old favorite for me. The folks were crankin' that one up pretty regularly when I was a kiddo.
verily, majestic. haven't thought about track 3 for eons but damn it's a good one. and brownsville station!
I almost put the Gary Jules track on my own mix.
Damn fine valis, especially giving the DRS tribute to Cub.
hmm gotta check out Octopus, and 10cc are nothing to be ashemed of ;) great mix and damn I should have thought of Mad world
I'll be frank -- love the mix, my friend. You should burn it to a mix, not just your memory. Didn't know the Clash was your favorite band. I don't know enough about 10cc to give you a hard time and I've never tried Octopus. If you do commit this to CD, I want to hear it, master.
Looks excellent. Good gracious, Grateful Dead AND Deep Purple . . . ;) That Tom Robinson song is one of my all-time faves.
Good one, sir.
Nice un, valis.Well, one thing I've realised out of all this is that a lot of people have it in for The Grateful Dead...I tell ya, it's almost making me embarrassed to like them...Doh! Time for a sequel from me maybe :)
Nice! especially track choice for 9!
I love the Tom Robinson pick, and am partial the Dolls selection as well. Lots of nice picks here.
Any meme that'll get a mix outta Valis is OK in my book. Great 16 pick, great Elvis pick...Oy! Deep Purple ;-)
This looks pretty cool, Valis.
i like this concept, i'll give it a whirl.
