Comment:
Yes, yes, I know, it's another one. I apologise, really I do. But this is actually a Smiths mix that has been made for someone, namely my boyfriend, who, not being too familiar with the group, asked if I could recommend a starting-point for him. I don't get asked this very often so needless to say I was thrilled and ran away to giddily make a mix, which was an interesting task as it's tailored to a specific person (though he doesn't have it yet), so I had to consider exactly which tracks he would like, as well as thinking about whether they would be a suitable introduction to The Smiths. I could have perhaps fitted a couple more tracks on, and very nearly did, but I eventually decided that it would be a bit too much of a bombardment if I did that. (Also, because of the various versions of some songs, I've also listed where each track comes from.) No matter what though, I knew that There Is A Light... was going to go on the end; I don't think you can really do this sort of thing without that track. Hopefully he likes it!Feedback:
It's taken 21 years but finally I can listen to the Smiths again! Back in '83 I shared a house with a few other students who played literally non-stop Smiths, it drove me f****** nuts I can tell you. Then I met my wife and yeh you've guessed it she's mad about The Smiths, its taken her 7 years but she's finally worn me down and The Smiths resonate about the house whilst I'm in it now!
any smiths comp is a good comp in my book
wonderful, moz is the best
i think making a smiths mix is a daunting task, what do you leave out? though you have left out one of my favourites - "william it was really nothing".
Great calls. I really enjoyed just reading it and playing the songs in my head as I did. I imagine your bf will be delighted with this introduction and be quick to beg you for a follow-up.
