Comment:
Began as a collection of acoustic guitar-based favourites, and gradually, more instruments seeped in, and so did a whole lot of folk and bluegrass...no percussion allowed anywhere, though. Nothing spectacularly original, but it took a long time and a lot of shuffling to get the flow right, and it's interesting to hear more modern tracks placed beside those from the 60s and before. In the middle of making this, there was suddenly a massive crash of thunder and a downpour outside, which was very welcome after days of humidity, so the title, from the Nick Drake track, seemed appropriate! Thanks to French Connection for the Alex Lloyd track - the atmosphere of this mix was partly inspired by his "Rainy Night..." mix, which I would highly recommend.
Feedback:
Wow. This is truly beautiful. Nice and moody.
Looks like you really nailed the vibe.
Lovely looking mix, all the way.

So many good picks here. Very nice.
This looks to be a lovely listen.
Looks very good. And got me thinking: is there really no percussion on "Back To The Old House"?
I'm off to the vinyl cupboard to check :)

YOWZA! I'd actually LOVE a copy of this CD... if you have the time! Look me up and let me know.
Very nice. I'd love to hear this.
Very nice indeed. Mmm.
This looks positively beautiful. Perhaps we can trade for it sometime.
This is so nice. Really lovely.
very well executed.
Sorry, I should have clarified, ardenstreet - I used the version of Back To The Old House which is on Hatful of Hollow - ie the John Peel Session - and it doesn't have percussion. However, the version on Louder Than Bombs does. So we're both right! :)
Er, not ardenstreet. PradaMeinhof, rather...
Love love love that Phil Ochs tune ... really nice job ... would love to hear it sometime!
I'm late in adding my two cents, but this is an absolutely wonderful mix. As a Kansas City boy, I love to see Iris DeMent turn up on mixes, plus there's so many other wonderful cuts that I can't namecheck them all. Excellent throughout!
