Comment:

This is a mixed genre for Rob Conroy - and I must apologise profusely now for taking so long to post it, especially as the one which he has made in exchange was posted a couple of weeks ago now (and looks great). A couple of notes about versions of tracks - Idlewild's take on Gang of Four can be found as a B-side to "Live in a hiding place". The Edwyn Collins track is, as it says, the acoustic version, which is a B-side to "A Girl Like You" - the original's on "Gorgeous George". And the Rapture track isn't the more recent, "re-worked" version on Echoes, but rather, it can be found on "Mirror" - it has more of a rough, post-punk quality to it. The title's from the Elbow track. Hope he enjoys it!

Wow. Nice. I like just about everything I know on here (I can't say I'm a big Manics fan, but one song is no big deal) and am interested in the stuff that I don't know. Thanks a lot--and trust me, there was no rush to make and/or send this. :-)

Fnr meinen Geschmack hier und da ein bi¯chen zu geschmackvoll (Calexico, like, say, Lambchop & co. and basically everything which is being distributed by City Slang in these hoarse latitudes, are a definite no-no), aber wie du von den Minutemen nber James Chance zu Leo Kottke (Leo-fucking-Kottke . . . love him!) kommst, verdienst gr÷¯ten Respekt. Hut ab, girl.

Unlike The Dude Mohr, I much like Calexico & Lambchop & I like only 2 albums by Manics...that being the pink one with Motorcycle Emptiness & the one with Elvis IMPERSONATOR, Collins is great, Chance is one of those artists I like in small doses, Lamb's Gorecki is a personal fave...good stuff SIOBHAN!

Wonderful. Rob oughta be well pleased. I'm especially fond of that stretch from the Minutemen to the Bush Tetras. And gimme de Kooning too.

a nicely unusual mix, and I really dig Leo Kottke! Also one of my fav tracks is the Vselines cut.

Mmm, ditto Gerry, nicely unusual. I got to ask- what's that Calexico track? It makes sense they got a song named after that book, but I've never heard of it.

bear - the Calexico track's from Aerocalexico; it's quite a nice collection of their B-sides and general non-album bits and pieces. The track itself is technically a cover but I'm not totally sure who the original can be attributed to - I think it's a "traditional" Americana/folk-type thing which doesn't really have a particular artist of origin. And I have to admit being a bit of a Manics fan :)

No way. No way. I wonder if that's where Cormac McCarthy got his title from... yeah, I have plenty of time for the Manics. 'The Holy Bible' is awesome. Cheers Siobhan
