Comment:

Happy Solstice !
I heard it from the valleys, I heard it ringing from the mountains...
some of them were superstitious, sitting with their backs facing the orchard, all of them with mittens on waiting for winter...
Look, make me feel colder...
on empty roads tonight loveless eyes are chilly planets...
watch the intersection rise...
...in the winter I kinda' shut down...
cold to the bone in a world of our own, praying winter freeze our shadows...
darkness, darkness, be my pillow, take my hat and let me sleep in the coolness of your shadow...
and still falls the snow, and still falls the snow
leave me here alone again...some say I'm a fool
...turning the wheel of life
I've gotta get outta here and find my way again, I've lost my way again
...but the fool on the hill sees the sun going down and the eyes in his head sees the world spinning 'round...
then all I really know is that I truly am when it's summer in Siam
...now they ask I've heard voices-only sometimes, late at night...I don't get too much sleep these days...
warm summer breeze blows endlessly, touching the hearts of those who feel...one summer dream, one summer dream.

A wonderful celebration of the solstice! The whole mix flows together as a single statement, and the poem you've made from the lyrics ties it all together. A brilliant job! And I speak from experience, having had the privilege of hearing it!

I'm listening to this magical solstice meditation for the 3rd time right now, and it's making me thoughtful - an unusual condition for me, & so a tribute to the power of valis' mythmaking.
I wouldnt want to lift any single song here out of its place in the flow - the whole thing has an ethereal glow, like moonlight on the snow, & it coaxes me into a year-end mood of looking back, looking inward, & looking far off into the distance, all at once - does that makes any sense? Well, it would if you were listening to this. Tinged with melancholy, yes, but in the same way as Milton's Il Penseroso, where a reflective mood sets off the music in a border of silence.

I never thought I'd hear another mix to equal valis' the longest drink
, a musical trip into midsummer, but here he is at the other end of the year with another masterpiece.

Thank you, valis.

Like a couple others here, I was fortunate to get an advanced copy of this flowing masterwork, which offered a soothing counterpart to the traffic jams I encountered at the mall today. Only knew a few of these beforehand (like the Beatles and Let's Active -- both of which fit in perfectly by the way), but I'm happy to make aquaintances with Cosmic Gardeners, Cheese and the hard to define Electrelane. We've got ourselves another Valis victory ladies and gentlemen. May we all float in space.

I can only second what Cliff, Joey and Ion said. An aural od(d)yssey out of the sombre into the sun. Sheer delight from start to finish, thoughtfully constructed and beautifully rendered. Get it. Quick. Before they're out.
