Comment:

A friend of mine is editing an Historical Encyclopedia of Prostitution. I contributed the article on blues. The Encyclopedia will go to press soon & she'll be throwing a party, so I put together a disk. It's a bit heavier on the blues than I'd like, because, well, I've been looking at a lot of prostitution blues lately. Suggestions for more modern cuts gratefully appreciated.

Title from Mrs. Andrews' lovely daughters.

Thanks to Mohr for the Washboard Rhythm Kings selection.

Thoroughly entertaining and enlightening. Track selection is spot on. This is top quality theme mixing. I feel I should leave some money on the dresser and a note --"worth every penny".

But, Nomates, you know I mix for love. Oh God, I feel so . . . cheap.

Wow, Jenergy, this looks fabulous. Even Bertha "Chippie" Hill is here. By any chance will this encyclopedia come with a CD inside the cover?

Let's see, more modern cuts, you ask. How about Jay-Z "Parking Lot Pimping" or Terrence Howard "Whoop that Trick" although musically probably not your cup of tea, and also too misogynistic for what you're doing here.

This is hilarious, well-researched, well-done, and looks like a whorehouse full o' fun. Count me in sometime (for the mix, that is)... ;-)

I've never had to pay for sex -- I mean mix, but I'd be willing to slip you a little something for this one. I'll meet you in the alley in 20 minutes.

Such a rich theme. Great mix, great cover. I hope we get a chance to read your entry in the encyclopedia.

Women of the night! If the encyclopedia is as well thought out as this mix, it'll be brilliant.

A great mix jenergy. Funkadelic, "Cosmic Slop and AC/DC, "What Do You Do For Money Honey?" are other suggestions although hardly modern!

Wicked cool. I feel dirty just looking at this. I suppose potential additions could include Liz Phair's "Fuck & Run" (though that's about being slutty, not hooking), and The Who's "Trick Of The Light" (not exactly a highlight of the Who's career, but one of the more direct rock songs about hookers).

wow. I would think that Bessie Smith could contribute (more old jazz/blues). Excellent job. Love the pulp fiction cover too.
