Comment:

Random thoughts on some of the cuts:

1. Boy, it's been a long time since I did a mixed genre. The first time I heard Cripple Crow, I knew I had to put this cut on a mix, and I'm just now getting around to it
2. I've been earwormed with this song for a while, so I went online & downloaded a mess of different versions of it. I was torn between this one & Dave van Ronk's.
3. Van fulfilling a contractual obligation. Man, this song is BAD.
5. Sean Lally put "V.F.W." on a recent mix, inspiring me to pull out my copy of Big Lizard in My Backyard. Gotta say, the Milkmen have really held up well.
12. This cut probably isn't a dada exercise of taking audio slices of that overplayed-at-this-time-of-year Julie Andrews tune & putting them together randomly, but it sure sounds like it.
16. From BC's latest album, Holidays, which includes songs for Thanksgiving, Groundhog Day, and yes, Mother's Day.
22. I love this version of "Cannon Song," cuz it makes mass destruction sound like so much fun (and cut #15 echoes the sentiment) .
29. I spent ages looking for this in hopes of including it on my gender identity confusion mix. No luck. However, all future burnings of said mix will include this song.
Thanks to Buglady for "Oui Oui Oui," which goes (all the way home) so well after "This Little Piggy."

Title from Alabama 3.

I bet you had fun making this! Love a lot of these tracks - 5,8,9,19 (wow, there's a blast from the past!), 21 (don't forget, that's Brook Benton rocking along with Ms. W), 23, and the fabulous 28. This looks really great Jenny. Maybe we should consider a trade sometime in the near future....

Nobody does Mixed-genre like Jenergy does mixed-genre! I can sort of get the idea here from what few songs I've heard, and your notes. Looks great.

And oh yes, Merry Christmas, Eve.

the first time you heard cripple crow? when was that? ;) I think it was before it even got released... suspect! I'm going to be in your neighborhood in a month-er-so... maybe we should finally hit up a concert venue together.

I was probably out Christmas shopping when you first posted this, but thanks to AOTM's excellent archives, I was able to give it a gander today. Plenty of great tunes, like the Oranger cover and that cool little AIH instrumental. Hope you're having a great birthday! Save me some cake.

Well, I find myself disagreeing with you on The Milkmen, they never seem as funny to me as they used to, and there's not a lot else there... That Negativland track, on the other hand, is hysterical! Nose cream! It was worth the wait to finally hear the mix in it's entirety. Thanks.
