jaime and i share the same mind i think. every mix she makes i feel like she's beaten me to the punch and anticipated my next move--i didn't think anyone else had my exact tastes until i saw her mixes. amazing.

a brilliant concept mix that postulates the sorts of mixes that would have been made c. 1937. i'm just having a hard time imagining the people throwing down the tracks to wax cylinder to trade with their friends...

while i'm more of a doestoevsky fan, i love all russian lit. but i never had the sort of inspiration to do a mix like this one, based on the master and margarita....brilliant.

i don't listen to punk music hardly at all. i'm a pop kid. then i see a mix like this that makes me question it all...

i seem to get most jealous when someone puts up an amazing punk mix. i wish i knew more about good punk since the '90s was inundated with shitty music claiming to be punk. this mix makes me very jealous :)

the shoegazers are what hooked me on spacey effects driven music. and while i've kind of walked away from that whole thing, seeing how some of my indierock heroes tip their hats to bands like pale saints and lush always keep me coming back for more. ion has created a wonderful tribute to music that was such a big part of my life.

punk rock is definitely NOT my milieu, but jessica has put together two amazing punk rock mixes here that even *i* adore.

a couple of months ago, Ion asked me to send a mix of female artists for perusal. then this mix comes into existance and makes what i sent look like a rancid piece of shit. wonderfully complete (especially for a mix that "scratches the surface") this mix makes me JEALOUS.

in my estimation, pam steele is one of the up and coming members of our little community--this mix of hers examines the double standard that exists in male/female sexual relations. structured in the narrative style, she manages to craft a seriously thought provoking mix. i wish i could come up with something this good...

when i was an english student at BGSU, 17th century british lit was my focus area--which makes the fact that for the most part i loathe shakespeare all that much more ironic. one of the targets of my disdain was shakespeare's macbeth, which while good has been so overdone and so overhyped that i just could no longer care for it. enter randy handfulls and an edict that he must student teach macbeth--and an amazing mix is born. time to pull out my copy of the riverside shakespeare methinks...i've got to steal his idea...
